About the Ashram

The Sarenga Sri Ramkrishna Vivekananda Society was established  30 years ago in 1993 with  immense grace of Sri Ramkrishna Pramhansha , Smt Sarada Devi and Sri Swamiji at  Sarenga which  is an underdeveloped, tribal-dominated remote village in Jangalmahal, within Bankura district of West Bengal. The natural beauty here is worth enjoying. This area is surrounded by green forests.

The temple was inaugurated in 2000 by His Holiness Gahananandaji Maharaj, the then Vice-president of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math, within the Ashram premises. The daily Sevapuja of Sri Thakur is performed here with devotion in the main temple.

Regular Sevapujas in the main temple is performed with great devotion and reverence.  The intention is to connect the local people with the ideology  of Sri Ramakrishna order.

Since its inception, the temple has been engaged in various services in various fields:

1. Working for the upliftment of poor & back ward people of surrounding area.

2. Providing medical care to the sick and afflicted people.

3. Arrangement of nutritious food for more than 100 needy children, 5 days a week at the ashram premise.
